Thanks for stopping by and taking the trouble to leave a comment.

Obviously I don't know anything about your business, so anything I suggest can only address a generic situation - the place most find themselves in these days, with white hot competition against others prepared to do and say anything to win business.

In that circumstance my strategy would be lay traps - set the scene for a competition you know you can win and then kick it off at the last minute.

Convincing the prospect there's another level not currently under consideration and persuading the buyer to flush out the competition in that dimension.

This has to come across as educating the buyer, without appearing as if we're stacking the deck, whilst doing precisely that.

So create the game, convince the buyer the winner should be the preferred vendor, and then bring your special team in to win the deal.

Now it's over to you. Where's the secret sauce in your business and why is that fundamental to the buyers success.

It's the old "curse of knowledge" dilemma isn't it? It's easy to assume visitors know how to comment or even that commenting is encouraged. Excellent post.

Hi Steven,

You are very right. Most entrepreneurs know much to little about sales. It is a process consisting of steps that need to be taken, in the right order, to make the selling efficient.

By learning to basics, starting your own company will be a lot less risky.

Thanks for the additional information Steve.

It turns out the iPhone app announced today is every bit as good as we would expect from Posterous, but it doesn't (at the moment at least) allow you to turn off Autopost. This was me trying out the new app, which I'll now give some serious thought to.

Peter thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I absolutely agree with you the right time is infinitely more important than ability or effort. I was out of the ERP game after 2000 but really feel for guys like you who were in it.
