FOB user Jaska Malmgren kindly reviewed this post and added his own footnote

"I happened to reinstall MS Outlook with Business Contact Manager the other day - what a terrible program! I could think of sitting with it day in and day out, and getting nothing out of it. I like FOB better.

In my opinion the difference is clear: FOB is for sales people (and entrepreneurs), CRM is for marketing!"

As background, Jaska is a software veteran with 30 years in development and program management under his belt. Right now he runs his own business, advising clients on IT Security and implementing Single Sign On systems for them. He's been using Front Office Box for more than a year.

Thank you for this site. I hope it will continue in this vein for a long time to come. Well done! By the way - I found my way here by searching for sales training course. When I found your post \"Selling Aspiration\" I was intrigued.

I gather always different opinions about web 2.0 and how to market with the different mindset of the \"new\" Internet. Will social interaction and networking really make the web different? Thanks for your thoughts on this!

Story marketing works! A recent study showed that storytelling in advertisements was far more effective than those using features/benefits.

That's why marketing is trending towards social media and conversations. Consumers trust other consumers far more than they trust companies. If they know that a product is working in the real life of a consumer who they can relate to - they're far more likely to make the purchase.

Hi Steve,
I think you have changed the steps a bit. #10 used to be Invoice Paid, which I find a valid step. #8 should be stronger with committed customer resources, as before. Maybe #4 and #6 could be combined as you do #4 with your coach, if anyone. For #2 I'd say that it is good to know the real decision maker, getting access to affect decision is sometimes a big challenge.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comment about Microsoft. Don't know why nobody bugs me. I think I scare them all away with my rationale.
