We all make mistakes. Admitting that isn’t something we’ll relish but it’s important. Otherwise we can’t improve. Which are the biggest mistakes you make when selling?

Here are mine :-(

  • I can be overbearing, especially when things aren’t going my way.
  • I can be hectoring when the prospect isn’t listening.
  • I can be dismissive when the prospect isn’t treating me like a business partner.
  • I can be a real jerk, just because I feel like it.
  • I think my managers are idiots.
  • But there’s one mistake I learned not to make a long time ago. I never pretend to be somebody else, the way those sales coaching books suggest.
To me the most important rule in selling is be yourself. Prospects recognize duplicity in a heartbeat. If I try to do it somebody else’s way they’ll mark me down as untrustworthy and they never buy from people they don’t trust. To me Selling is About People

    How about you?
