The Concept
The promotional videos had caught our interest, especially with the mixture of messaging and conversation, and embedded media. There just had to be some interesting ways it could be used by smaller businesses to do more at lower cost. – Google Wave
How would we be able to incorporate it – helping our users to stay on top of plans, schedules and relationships.? That’s the question we’ve been busting to answer – and that answer is “it’s going to be awesome”.
The Pilot
We’ve had it for a couple of days now and used it in anger in a collaborative project with international partners. There’s a lot missing, or broken, as yet. Fair enough – it’s pre-release and we knew that.
Immediate impressions are this technology is going to change the way we all do things. It may not replace email and IM (?) but it will offer an interesting alternative. We see very big possibilities for using it to enable and record the conversations which go on when we’re managing a sales campaign, a customer relationship or a project.
The Plan
Just as soon as it’s stable we’ll offer an option to embed waves in our Plans and Relationship records. That way our users will be able to find their own way of making it make sense in their business.
We’ll make it an integral part of our Sales and CRM tool set.
