I like selling to CEO’s but hate working for them.
There’s something about the title that encourages them to think they know better than everybody else.
Of course the really bright CEOs understand their job is about getting the best out of their people, supporting their skills and backfilling for them, so they can deliver.
Unfortunately most of them aren’t that secure – read the Peter Principle – and as a result they meddle in stuff they don’t understand. They can get away with it, but they’ll get fired in the end.
No salesman (sorry ladies this isn’t a gender specific term) worth his salt would take the promotion to CEO. Ergo the guys or gals doing that job know sweet FA about selling.
So CEO’s please stay out of the way, and do what your sales guys want you to do.
I can sell, at the highest price and lowest cost. Get on with your job and let me do mine.
That”s your best chance of keeping your job!
